This talk will explore the image of Hekate as an aspect of the archetype of the Great Goddess. We will explore Hekate’s darkness, liminality and the light she holds.
Her manifestations in archeology, mythology and art reveal her as a Goddess that unites the split feminine image modern society holds. In contrast to the split between a pure virgin and the dark witch, Hekate holds life, death and regeneration in a totality.
Hekate further presents us with a feminine image relevant to our times, an image that gives us access not only to natural instincts, but also to the divinity of a feminine instinctual awareness that has been lost to modernity. The image of Hekate also offers an ancient wisdom of how to traverse the crossroads of life, experiences which confront us with darkness, as well as initiatory processes. Hekate holds a light in the darkness.
