The Image: A Mirror of the Psyche
with Marion Anderson, JA, Jungian Analyst
Jung’s Red Book, with its intense psychic imagery, illuminates our understanding of the unconscious in a unique way. For Jung, images represent a means of communicating information and expressing emotion as well as form a bridge between consciousness and the unconscious. In this lecture we will investigate the importance of the image in the context of Jung’s analytical psychology. We will explore how Jung himself started to draw and paint images that later transformed into the Red Book, and focus on how Jungians across the world use painting of inner images in different therapeutic settings. To conclude, Marion will share a case example from her experiences as an analyst working with drawn images.
