The Dark Goddess as a living symbol has been worshiped for centuries as the healer of relationships and of our bodies. Drawing from case material, we will examine how the embodiment of the Dark Goddess can provide a bridge that we must cross to begin to resolve the violent clash of racial opposites currently at play within our culture. In this presentation we will explore our capacity to be with the other, the meaning of these catastrophic encounters, and the necessary psychic work of living with and internalizing the Dark Goddess.
Course objectives:
Describe what is meant by the archetype of the Dark Goddess.
Describe a psychological approach which addresses the current racial opposites at play within our culture today.
Give a case example of how to help patients internalize the symbolic archetype of the Dark Goddess.
