 a living symbol has been worshiped for centuries as the healer of relation
 ships and of our bodies. Drawing from case material\, we will examine how 
 the embodiment of the Dark Goddess can provide a bridge that we must cross
  to begin to resolve the violent clash of racial opposites currently at pl
 ay within our culture. In this presentation we will explore our capacity t
 o be with the other\, the meaning of these catastrophic encounters\, and t
 he necessary psychic work of living with and internalizing the Dark Goddes
 s.\n\nCourse objectives:\n\nDescribe what is meant by the archetype of the
  Dark Goddess.\n\nDescribe a psychological approach which addresses the cu
 rrent racial opposites at play within our culture today.\n\nGive a case ex
 ample of how to help patients internalize the symbolic archetype of the Da
 rk Goddess.\n\nTessamarie Capitolo\, MFT.\, CST-T\, is an analytic psychot
 herapist in private practice in San Rafael. A member of Sandplay Therapist
 s of America (Master Teacher) and the International Society of Sandplay Th
 erapy\, she has taught Sandplay nationally and internationally and has pub
 lished several articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy\, including "Th
 e Dark Goddesses: An Encounter with the Dark Feminine"\; "Chaos Theory and
  Its Application to the Sandplay Process"\; "Black and White: Retrieving o
 ur Shadow"\; and "The Inter/Intrapersonal Racial Unconscious." She and her
  husband\, David Capitolo are the founders of the Child Therapy Institute 
 which serves a diverse population in the Bay Area.
