SUMMARY:Jung and the Tarot
DESCRIPTION:Jung and the Tarot\nPresented by\nArt Rosengarten\, MA\,PhD\nli
 nk to audio file\nSunday\, March 3\, 2019\, 4:00 - 6:00 pm\nThe Tarot is a
n intriguing symbol system emerging from the Italian Renaissance. Long ass
ociated with psychics and fortunetellers\, its imagery is evocative\, mult
i-layered\, and remarkably rich psychologically. Through the 20th century\
, tarot’s evolution has been heavily influenced by Jungian thought\, alt
hough ironically Jung’s writing on the subject is sparse. This lecture e
xplores a Jungian approach to the deck of possibility. \nCourse objectiv
es:\nUnderstand tarot’s psychological and therapeutic benefits as a tool
of active imagination supplemental to talk therapy within the framework o
f Jungian analysis.\nDescribe modern tarot from the Jungian perspective\,
its indications and contraindications for usage as a psychotherapeutic ins
trument within an established container between therapist and client\, sim
ilar to dreamwork or Sandplay in this respect. \nLearn about the intersect
ion of Jung’s theories pertaining to synchronicity\, symbolism\, archety
pal imagery\, etc. with the psychological and spiritually-grounded applica
 tion of tarot cards in a therapeutic setting.\nArt Rosengarten\, MA\, PhD\
, is a clinical psychologist in private practice\, Director of Moonlight C
ounseling in north San Diego County\, and teaches Live Online Tarot Semina
rs at MoonlightTarot.com. Among the leading scholars of modern Tarot in t
he world\, he wrote the first accredited doctoral dissertation on Tarot as
a method for accessing the unconscious and is a pioneer in the emerging d
iscipline. He is one of only a few psychologists worldwide to have succes
sfully implemented tarot card readings within his psychological practice\,
as a supplemental tool utilized at critical points in a person’s growth
not unlike dream analysis or other tools of active imagination. He is aut
hor of five books on the tarot\, including Tarot and Psychology: Spectrums
of Possibility\, Tarot of the Nine Paths: Advanced Tarot for the Spiritua
l Traveler\, and his most recent work\, Tarot of the Future: Raising Spiri
 tual Consciousness.
