 retical exploration of the relationship between Jungian psychology and sha
 manic practices of indigenous peoples.  We will examine the dialectic betw
 een Jungian psychology and shamanism by highlighting the overlapping ideas
 \, intersecting beliefs\, and divergent aspects of both perspectives.  We 
 will also identify some of the ways in which shamanic ritual can provide a
  portal into the transpersonal realm of the psyche and inform our psycholo
 gical attitudes.   \nCourse objectives:\nDescribe some of the commonalitie
 s and differences between Jungian psychology and shamanism.\nGive an examp
 le of how shamanism can inform modern psychological practice​\nLori Tyle
 r\, PhD\, is a Jungian analyst and clinical psychologist in private practi
 ce in Long Beach and Pasadena and runs a weekly dream group in Long Beach.
   She spent much of her early career in forensics\, working with the impri
 soned chronically mentally ill\, as well as running domestic violence prev
 ention groups in outpatient settings.  She has also served as adjunct facu
 lty at several local community colleges.
