SUMMARY:Lest We Forget: Toward a Psychological Understanding of World War I

DESCRIPTION:\nWith particular focus on the Pacific Campaign\, this presenta
 tion will explore the psychological meaning underlying the catastrophe of 
 World War II. &nbsp\;When we look past political history\, we stand a chan
 ce to glimpse the underlying archetypal forces that erupted across the wor
 ld\, and we may try to comprehend an awareness of that which we have terme
 d "the dark side of the Self." &nbsp\;Through our awareness we can work to
  understand and thereby contain this otherwise autonomous force. &nbsp\;Wi
 th the continued challenges facing our world today\, the importance of rem
 embering this possibility brings new and additional meaning to the words\,
  "lest we forget."\n\n\n\nNote: The presenter suggests viewing the films\,
  "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" prior to attending thi
 s event.\n\n\n\nHolly Fincher\, PhD\, is a Jungian analyst\, licensed psyc
 hologist\, and long-time board member of the Jung Club of Orange County. 
  Having trained in both Southern California and Switzerland\, she was cer
 tified by the C.G. Jung Study Center of Southern California where she is a
 n analyst member\, and continues her work in Zurich with the Research and 
 Training Centre for Depth Psychology according to C.G. Jung and Marie-Loui
 se von Franz.  Still active with our club\, Holly currently lives on an e
 arly American farmstead in rural New Hampshire with her husband\, Border c
 ollie\, and very small flock of sheep.\n\n\n\n\n
