SUMMARY:From Wheelchair to Chariot: A Visionary Unsuspecting
DESCRIPTION:\nWhile the prospect of one day becoming a Jungian analyst seem
ed remote from drawing in church\, tracing Audubon or dinosaurs\, oil pain
ting\, intaglio printmaking or earning two studio degrees in art\, it was
precisely these endeavors and this trajectory that gave Brad TePaske his p
sychological life and work.\n\n\n\nThis highly personal retrospect will tr
ace this process via slides and select original artworks\, memoirs and mus
ic from his youth.  It will continue and culminate with the startling vis
ionary imagery which arose from tumultuous inner experiences late in art s
chool and made all the difference.  Emphasis will be given to mother and
anima\, Hades and the underworld\, the notion of personal myth\, and the e
ssential role of Beauty and the aesthetic in depth psychological experienc
e.\n\n\n\nBradley A. TePaske\, PhD\, holds BFA in Printmaking from the Un
iversity of Iowa and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachu
setts\, where he also studied Northern Renaissance\, 19th Century Symbolis
m\, and Surrealism.  He is the author of Rape and Ritual: A Psychologica
l Study\, Sexuality and the Religious Imagination. A Zurich-trained Jungia
n analyst\, he is in private practice in Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades
