 lized by the round hearth\, and her flame burned in the center of the home
 \, the temple\, and the ancient city. The lecture will explore the bi-vale
 nt energies inherent in this symbol\, with an emphasis on both historic an
 d contemporary psychological aspects of the perennial instinct to the sacr
 ed.\nJanis Jennings\, PhD\, is a control-stage analytic candidate at the C
 .G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. She is a licensed psychotherapist in pr
 ivate practice in Santa Barbara\, and earned her PhD from Pacifica Graduat
 e Institute in Mythological Studies with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology. 
 Her dissertation was entitled Hestia\, Goddess of the Hearth: Fire at the 
 Center.
