The Shadow:
Our Phantom Companion
Presented by
Katherine Sanford, MA, MFT
Sunday, 4 PM – 6 PM, February 21st, 2010
In these chaotic times some conscious awareness of our own individual dark inner depths is critical if we are to find meaning and maintain our psychic balance amidst the breakdown of old worn out collective social, political and religious safeguards.
This lecture will explore the Shadow, that unconscious, amoral, alter personality that lives and operates within the human psyche of each and every one of us. It will also examine the unconscious projections through which the personal shadow gets lived out in the collective violence and destruction around us. As Jung has said:
If man only learns to deal with his own shadow he has done something real for the world. He has succeeded in shouldering at least an infinitesimal part of the gigantic unsolved social problems of our day.
