SUMMARY:Some Homosexualities and the Challenge of Analytical Psychology
DESCRIPTION:Some Homosexualities \nand the Challenge of Analytical Psycholo
 gy\nPresented by Barry Miller\, PhD\nlink to audio file\nSunday\, 4 PM - 6
PM\, October 19th\, 2008\n\nToday the subject of “homosexuality” stim
ulates enormous conflicts and challenges to our basic orientations in theo
logy\, politics\, and psychology. Often assumptions are made to foster a s
ense of understanding and knowing\, while avoiding the complexities\, para
doxes\, and mysteries of human sexuality.\nIn its emphasis on amplifying t
he purpose embedded in erotic experience\, analytical psychology has a uni
que and controversial perspective to contribute. This talk will reflect on
just a few “homosexualities” to explore an approach that seeks not a
“theory of homosexuality\,” but an intensification and deepening of th
e relationship to the dynamic nature of the psyche itself.\nBarry Miller\,
PhD is a Jungian analyst and clinical psychologist in West Hollywood. In
addition to serving as faculty at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles\,
he lectures frequently on dreams\, sexuality\, and transference and count
 er-transference issues.
