The Self communicates to us via dreams, symptoms and synchronicities and this program examines unique messaging from the Self through the Chinese book of wisdom – the I Ching. A western male professor in his third round of analysis had a powerful series of dreams over an 18-month period while he was focusing on his anima. Twice at crucial points in his analysis he was told in his dreams to consult the I Ching and at other times was given hexagrams in the dreams. The very sequential dream series culminated in his anima generating a hexagram in a dream!

The presentation will focus on the dreams and explore the profound dimensions of the Self necessary to encompass the symbolic realities demonstrated in the dreams. Participants are encouraged to read Dennis’s published article, “Use of the I Ching in the Analytic Setting”; view the video of his previous lecture to our Club, “The I Ching—Oracle and Book of Wisdom”; and read his “Tips on Dream Interpretation,” a list that Dennis has developed over his 40 years of practicing as a Jungian analyst, pointers that will help in understanding the dreams.
