Sunday Lecture

From Wheelchair to Chariot:
A Visionary Unsuspecting

Presented by
Bradley A. TePaske, Ph.D.

Sunday,  11 AM - 2 PM,  January 23rd,  2011

While the prospect of one day becoming a Jungian analyst seemed remote from drawing in church, tracing Audubon or dinosaurs, oil painting, intaglio printmaking or earning two studio degrees in art, it was precisely these endeavors and this trajectory that gave Brad TePaske his psychological life and work.

This highly personal retrospect will trace this process via slides and select original artworks, memoirs and music from his youth.  It will continue and culminate with the startling visionary imagery which arose from tumultuous inner experiences late in art school and made all the difference.  Emphasis will be given to mother and anima, Hades and the underworld, the notion of personal myth, and the essential role of Beauty and the aesthetic in depth psychological experience.

Bradley A. TePaske, PhD, holds BFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts, where he also studied Northern Renaissance, 19th Century Symbolism, and Surrealism.  He is the author of Rape and Ritual: A Psychological Study, Sexuality and the Religious Imagination. A Zurich-trained Jungian analyst, he is in private practice in Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades.
