Sunday Afternoon Lecture

World of Inner Images and the Individuation Process

Presented by
Sheherezad Shashaani, MA

Sunday,  3:00 PM - 6:30 PM,  November 15th,  2009

Jung’s premise is that "everything of which we are conscious is an image, and that image is the psyche." In this presentation, Ms. Shashaani will share her reflections on how images from dreams, visions, and active imagination transform consciousness.  She will use images that have evolved during the course of deep inner work—that of her own and patients—to demonstrate the process by which the imagination speaks in its own voice.  She will portray the healing effect of translating emotions into images, which can in turn transform our consciousness.  This will be an exploration of ways in which the moon-world and sun-world come together paving the way for living a symbolic life.  Her presentation will demonstrate the process by which the inner life of imagination enables one’s own personal myth to become visible and known, leading to an understanding of the purpose and meaning of life.

Sheherezad Shashaani, MA is a psychotherapist practicing in Ventura and Los Angeles.  Born in Iran, she came to the U.S. in 1969.  Since then, she has traveled between her native land and the U.S., earning an MA in Counseling Psychology with emphasis on Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.  Her interest in Jungian psychology and the image-producing function of the psyche led her to travel extensively through her native land, study Persian mythology, and write her thesis on the ancient Persian Goddess Anahita.
