Friday Night Lecture

Sacred Selfishness
The Path of Love and Authenticity

Presented by
Bud Harris, Ph.D.
Friday, October 1, 2004, 8:00 pm

"When our true inner realities are expressed in our simplest and most ordinary acts, our lives become expositions of our Selves…"

~  Bud Harris

In his seminars on Nietzsche's Zarathustra, Jung emphasized that we must eat the gold in the world until we are made of gold and not of hunger.  If we do not, we become empty people who consume ourselves and feed on others.  This presentation will place this idea within the context of individuation.  Sacred selfishness will be considered a foundation for growing self-knowledge and authentic self-love, without which our notions of love often reflect needy psychological pursuits, idealistic fantasies, or sentimental hopes.

Saturday Workshop

Transforming the Green Lion into the Red Dragon
Individuation and Mysticism

Presented by
Bud Harris, Ph.D.

Saturday, October 2, 2004, 9:00 am ~ 1:00 pm

This workshop will compare the concept of "sacred selfishness" with the process of mystical self-development and show how we can become free from the forces that have molded our lives, allowing the potentials we have ignored to flourish and transform us.  Through group discussion and writing, we will explore the development of spiritual consciousness as the foundation for a fulfilling life.  Please bring pencil and paper.

Bud Harris, Ph.D. received his analyst training at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich.  His books include Our Lost Manhood, The Father Quest and Sacred Selfishness.  He lives in Asheville, North Carolina.
